Nowadays we believe that consenting adults have the freedom to do what they like with their own bodies. Sex is publicized, celebrated and endlessly discussed. The media is obsessed with the sex lives of celebrities and thinks it wrong that in other cultures people suffer for their sexual orientation, women are treated as second-class citizens, and adulterers are put to death.
