Fiction: Britain as a Foreign Country

Saturday 27 Feb, 4.30pm - 5.30pm

Vesna Maric, Sold Out

Vesna Maric, Sold Out

What is it like to arrive in Britain as a foreigner? Vesna Maric came as a refuge from Bosnia in 1992 and tells the story in her moving and funny autobiography Bluebird: A Memoir. Brian Chikwava writes with humour and precision about an immigrant from Zimbabwe in Harare North; while Amanda Craig’s devastating state of the nation novel Hearts and Minds includes an illegal mini-cab driver and a victim of sexual trafficking. Three of our most inspiring writers talk about how others see us and what it’s like trying to survive in Britain today.

£6.50 (£5.50) A13
