Bath International Literature Festival

Education Events

Bath Festivals offers a year-round education programme providing opportunities for young people to access arts activity across Bath and North East Somerset.

This year’s Bath Literature Festival is teeming with events for families, schools and young people, from Latin workshops to cookery classes.

Undertaking its second year of creative writing workshops, Bath Festivals Write Team will explore pupil engagement and confidence in learning.

Young Writers’ Competition

‘Food’ is this year’s theme and we are looking for contributions in Poetry, Short Story Writing and Cover Design. iPod nanos and writing workshops for schools are up for grabs as prizes, so start thinking ‘food’. How do we cook it, grow it, taste it, import it, chop it, buy it? It defines the way we live. So let’s get writing about food! For further about the competition contact the Education Team, details below.

Kids Big Bath Read

New for 2010 we invite schools to participate in the Kids Big Bath Read. Cosmic, by Frank Cottrell-Boyce, sees a very tall 12 year old boy end up in space! With this idea in mind schools can enter an art competition, the prize being to host Frank during the Festival. On Tuesday 2 March, Frank will then judge a rocket launching by competing schools.Free editions of Cosmic will be given to all participating schools and the winning launch team will receive family tickets to Centre Parcs. For further details about the competition please contact the Education Team education@bathfestivals.org.uk
